News Flash: Cervical Cancer Kills

by Vanessa Fleury

Important news for women:

The human papillomavirus also known as HPV is a serious matter that we should not ignore. Cervical cancer is caused by certain strains of HPV, a common sexually transmitted disease –which kills more than 4,000 women in the US each year.

HPV can also cause genital and anal warts and cancer of the mouth, head and neck, penis and anus.

By taking a routine pap test many of these cases can be prevented. When caught at an early stage, abnormal cells in women are highly treatable.

According to the American Cancer Society, more than 12,000 new cases of cervical cancer will be diagnosed in the United States this year. Due to women getting Pap test consistently the rate of cervical cancer in the United States has fallen more than 50%.

So, what’s the lesson here? Get tested, be one LESS!

A few sketches have recently been released of what we can expect. The design innovation keeps us guessing, even though we’ve become used to the madness that is Lady Gaga’s closet.

We’re so excited about the collaboration with Giogio Armani. With his amazing design talent and her wild imagination, we can’t wait to see these outfits in physical form.

The sketches appear to include a variety of shapes and textures, with both skin showing, robotic leotards to complete body covering kaftans, all include gizmos and gadgets of music, fashion, and design.

by Hannah Phang

With the recent Mad Men season 5 premiere, we can’t help but notice the shows impact on fashion. The post-1950’s style that is seen in the popular television show has definitely been an influence to trends. Not only have we seen people creating their own takes on the looks from the show, with vintage pieces and second hand finds, but well-known retailers themselves are taking notice of the importance of this show on the fashion industry.

Banana Republic has been collaborating on a line with the Mad Men costume designer, which is in stores now! It’s now easier than ever to find pieces to add to the popular 50’s and 60’s looks to accentuate a woman’s curves and create a sleek professional look for men.
